Baby Ella is 6 months old!! Yes, it has gone by quickly, but at the same time I feel like it’s been slow. I stay home with her, and she can be quite the fussy babe… time goes slowly when your baby refuses to be set down! Being Ella’s mama is by far my most extraordinary accomplishment. She has taught us what unconditional love really is. Yes, there have definitely been times when I’ve been so frustrated I’ve cried, but amongst the challenges are moments of the purest joy I’ve ever felt. Looking at her cute little face, I’m amazed by the miracle that I grew her body, that I brought her into the world and that I get to love her forever.
Ella loves sweet potatoes & oatmeal. She likes to play with wooden spoons and Tupperware (of course). She prefers to be held and gets mad when mom tries to do stuff around the house. Luckily she loves being worn in the Ergo. She isn’t sure about other people and likes to be with mommy or daddy most of the time, she’s getting better. Ella LOVES being outside and going for walks. She will get excited just seeing the stroller. She doesn’t like bedtime or taking naps, but she is a good sleeper. She has mastered rolling and can roll across the room if you put the tv remote as bait! She’s a smiley girl but only mom and dad can make her giggle and even then it’s not too often, but when she does laugh it’s the best sound in the world. Ella likes Grandma Sue’s doggy Baxter and will reach her little hands out to touch him, he’ll often let her but just for a second. Ella can sit up independently and has been showing interest in crawling by trying to bring her knees up. She just learned how to jump in her jumper and loves it. It’s so fun to watch.
Ella still has a strong dislike for riding in the car. We aren’t sure if it’s the angle of her car seat, the fact that she’s bored or maybe she just wants to sit up front with her cool parents. She has never been the kind of baby who falls asleep in the car!
She’s a petite little thing, weighing in at just 15 lbs and 25.5 inches long. We wonder if she’ll take after her mama (5’2 ft tall) or her daddy (6’3 ft tall). But she has the chubbiest, most delicious thighs ever! She has light brown hair and very dark eyes. The first thing anyone (and everyone) says is “look at those eyes!” Ella has been bright eyed and interested in her surroundings since she was just hours old. Which is wonderful, she loves to learn, but requires a lot of stimulation and gets bored easy.
Chris and I still have soooo much to learn about this little lady. Everyday is new and exciting. Happy 6 months baby girl! Chris and I are celebrating the fact we kept a human being alive for 6 months, and she actually seems to like us!!
