Omg, this update is so long overdue! Like embarrassingly overdue. Last time I updated they were just starting our foundation… Well folks, they are just finishing the DRYWALL! Yes!!! Holy crap right??!
Once the foundation was in, things started happening FAST! And thank God, we had no major hiccups. Couple things here and there, but we are thankful for no major disruptions. Walls went up, floors went in. We were thankful to get a roof in before the snow in November. Siding was completed by the end of November. BAM!
Once the windows and doors were installed they began working on the electrical, plumbing and HVAC. It’s so amazing to see it all coming together.
Insulation was installed in early December and by the beginning of January 2018 the entire house has been drywalled.
Chris and I are now busting our butts getting flooring and cabinets lined up. I successfully picked paint colors FOR EVERY room yesterday. The whole process is crazy overwhelming. But still enjoyable! I feel very thankful that I am home and can spend a good deal of time looking and researching products. And thankful that Ella doesn’t mind being drug to the paint store for the billionth time.
Our vision for finishes is still pretty close to what i talked about in this post. Kitchen will have gray cabinetry, white quartz countertops and fairly dark wide plank flooring. We bought all our appliances on Black Friday and ended up getting a KitchenAid suite in black stainless.
Living room will be super open with huge windows (basically one wall is windows) opening to a large covered deck. Walls will be a silvery gray (oddly named Silver Bullet, funny if you know my family’s love for Coors Light 😂) The wall that goes up the stair case will be painted a charcoal gray and will be covered in lovely art and photos.
My vision for the master bedroom and bathroom is very northwest. Spruce green walls (In the Moment by Behr), with charcoal accents. Beautiful black-gray tile in the bathroom. Our bedroom has two large windows to let a lot of light in.
Ella’s bedroom will be nearly identical to what it is now. Gray walls with light pink accents. Her room is currently my favorite in our house now so I don’t want to change it much.
I’m planning on painting Ellas bathroom the lovely-ist shade of blush. It’s called “My Sweetheart”. I want it to be feminine but not too girly. I’ll probably do black and white accents because that’s my jam.
The guest room is going to double as my office and will likely be used as my office WAY more. This is the only room I’m not 100% sure on. It’s either going to be the silvery gray or the light blush color of Ella’s bathroom. I want something light and bright that I feel inspired by when I walk in and sit down to blog.
Hmm.. what else? Oh the downstairs powder room is likely going to be a shade or two lighter than our bedroom color. A greeny blue, with dark charcoal accents.
Building a house is a lot of work. A lot. But, it will be so worth it when we are moved in and settled. Looking out our front windows and seeing nothing but trees is going to be oh so lovely.
Now the questions everyone is asking: When are you planning on moving in?? This is a very tricky question to answer. I just tell people SPRING 2018. It’ll likely be the end of March, but we aren’t putting any time-table on it. Building is such an unpredictable process and we want to keep ourselves open.
There you have it folks. I’ll try to be better about updating, especially as the finish work starts happening. Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Snapchat. I post photos of the property/house every week on those platforms!
Any questions? What color do you think I should paint my office? The fun blush color or basic gray?? Do you know why they used blue drywall???
