Well, we have survived the holidays. But now we are in that slump.. the in between slump. The fun and buzz of the holidays are over leaving us smack in the dead of winter. The days are dark and depending on where you live quite cold. This time of year can be quite hard for some to bear. Living in the PNW, the lack of sunshine can really take a toll on your well being. It’s important to be kind to ourselves and find ways to nourish our souls.
I find it’s much harder to take time for myself now that I have a child. My focus is always 100% on my daughter. As a mother we spend so much of our time doing things for others and caring for those around us. We give and give, and if we’re not careful and intentional about filling up our own cups, we will run dry. 2018 is going to be my year of mindfullness.
I’m going to try to take more time for myself. I will take more time for myself.
One way that I like to take time for myself is a little pampering. I don’t know about you, but I simply can’t afford frequent spa visits so anything I can do at home is wonderful. I reached out to a lovely company, Fig & Flower, and they graciously let me choose a few at home pamper products from their shop.
Fig & Flower was founded by two women who are passionate about bringing health and wellness into the lives of others. Fig & Flower is a one stop boutique (in Atlanta) and online store for all things healthful, natural, and beautiful.
*Fig and Flower graciously gifted me these products, this post may contain affiliate links which means I may receive a teeny commision if you purchase something (at NO extra cost to you! Just helps me follow my dream!)

My self care game plan:
I started with the Briogeo Hair treatment… I know it’s an over night treatment but I didn’t have the patience! I applied it while I was making dinner and just put my hair up in a bun until I was ready to rinse it.
When my child was FINALLY asleep, I made a scrub out of the One Love “Brand New Day” included in my facial kit. All you do is pour a little of the powder into your hand and add a few drops of water to make a paste and gently rub it on your face then rinse off.
With my face clean and fresh I started my bath (and took a sip of wine) then began to prepare my face mask. Again I poured a little of the Brand New Day powder into my hand but this time added raw honey and mixed for a hydrating mask. I applied to my face and retreated to my warm tub.
(I totally forgot to buy a bath soak product, this one looks amazing… so I used a bath melt from LUSH I had laying around.)
The face mask is intended to stay on for 15 minutes, I rinsed my face. At this time I decided to rinse my hair as well. I was super intrigued by the Briogeo Exfoliating shampoo so I dove right in. I scooped some out and applied to my entire head foucusing on my scalp of course. I spent a good while massaging it into my scalp then let it sit on my hair until I was done with my
I always take a shower after a bath.. is that weird? Otherwise I don’t feel very well rinsed. So I hopped in the shower to rinse out the shampoo and I quick applied a little of this conditioner (also from Fig & Flower).
When out of the shower and all dry I applied a nice layer of the Captain Blankenship Body Cream all over and a layer of One Love Organics Skin Savoir to my face and neck.
Easy. I love everything. I know, I know- I hear you “She always loves everything.” But I only work with brands/companies who make really quality products! So it’s hard NOT to love everything. Here is my rundown of each product.
One Love Organics 3-2-1 Fantastic Facial Kit – here This kit is an amazing value. It’s only $35 and you get two really good products. And they are the type of product you really don’t need much of, so they will last a long time. The full size Skin Savior is $50 alone. It smells heavenly. Sweet with citrus, I described it to my hubby as a “sweet lemon cake”. To. Die. For. I will use every last drop of this. The Scrub/mask powder is really nice. At first I didn’t think it would be “scruby” enough for exfoliation, but it totally is. Plus it has fresh pineapple enzymes to polish off dead skin cells! I’ve had a reaction to fresh pineapple in the past, and I think this powder may have irriated my skin a little. 😫 So it may be gifted to a friend with not so sensitve skin!
Captain Blankenship Sunshine Body Cream – here When i ordered this I expected it to be more “creamy” like a typical body cream/lotion. It has a cocoa butter and coconut oil base so it has that similar consistency. But it seriously melts right itno your skin and doesn’t feel oily at all. It seriously lasts all day. I’m obessessed with it. I love that it’s pure enough to put on my kid. It would be PERFECT for a pregnant belly!
Briogeo Hair Exfoliating Shampoo and Hair Repair Treatment. Here and Here. I absolutely enjoyed the shampoo. I’m not one with a dry flakey scalp BUT I am someone who uses dry shampoo on the regular. I can just imagine the build up from it. This shampoo has vegetable-derived micro-exfoliators so it actually feels scruby. It has a spearmint/peppermint scent that is so lovely. Even my husband enjoys using this shampoo. It is pricey, but not an everyday shampoo so it will last quite a while. The overnight hair treatment is nice, I’ll be honest and say it didn’t wow me, it didn’t dispoint either. My hair felt soft and appeared shiny, but I feel I get that from regular conditioners. This product will likely be perfect for those with VERY dry, damaged, coarse hair.
Wow, this post suddenly became way longer than I anticipated so I’ll wrap it up, how about with a giveaway! Everyone loves giveaways!
